Shooting this surprise proposal was probably the coolest thing we’ve done all year! Except, I should clarify – it wasn’t quite “we” that shot it, but Ian… I was at home healing from having a baby two weeks before!

Here’s how it all unfolded:

Ian called Elisha just to catch up one day. Elisha told him that he was planning to propose to his girlfriend in Pennsylvania in a couple weeks! Elisha wondered if Ian would be up for coming along with him and capturing the whole thing with photo and video.

Normally both of us would have been like, “YES!!!”

But there was a little issue…

I was due any week and the date he was planning to propose was right about when I was guessing I would probably go into labor.

Hmmmmm

I was pretty doubtful something would work out, but both of us really hoped it would. So I told Ian that if I had already had the baby, and things were going well, and I had help, then I would consider letting him travel out. (He would be gone for two nights!)

Well, guess what happened! I ended up going into labor two weeks earlier than expected, my recovery went really well, I had SO much help and support, (either my mom or mother-in-law was with me the entire time) and by the time Ian needed to make a decision, I was feeling very good about it. 😁☺️

So they headed up one night, crashed at a friends’ house, got some Chipotle, picked up some flowers, set up at the proposal site, and got ready for Kayla’s brother to drop her off! The surprise proposal was a success, she said YES, (!!!!) and from all appearances, the two of them could not be happier. 🥰🥰🥰🥰 (Nor could we be happier FOR them!!)
